Best gaming mouse. Razer DeathAdder V2
First we are going to tell you what each thing means so that you have no doubts that we have made a good choice. You will see why the Razer has been the Featured gaming mouse compared to the others. Of all the ones we have tested, the DeathAdder has been our favorite because it has seemed to fail in any of the tests. It is comfortable for long periods, whatever grip you have (we'll talk about this a bit later).
The whole body is covered in black plastic that reduces sweat build-up. Some gaming mouse models of the brand had a thinner plastic, but Razer has cleverly switched to a rubberized area on the bottom of the device that makes it even grippable with the thumb and little finger.
As for the wheel, it also takes many points, it is elongated and easy to roll (scroll for future reference), and yet still offers a good balance for a cheap gaming mouse, in the sense that the wheel has resistance, something vital to choose for example weapons in a first person shooter game.
The two thumb buttons on the left side of the mouse are similar. Large and easy to press, again offering enough resistance to avoid accidentally activating them, something that has happened to us in other gaming mice that we have tested for this publication.
The CPI of the DeathAdder can be adjusted in increments of 100 to 6.400 and with its 105 gramsIt is true that this is not the lightest model of gaming mouse that we have tested, but it is average and it is definitely not heavy. It has good weight and glides across the surface without complications. To make a comparison, the small Roccat Savu weighs 90 grams and the large Kone XTD 123. But although the Death Adder is not the lightest it is much better to make it slide on more types of surfaces, giving us a better result.
Also this model uses a optical sensor, something quite rare in the cheap gaming mice on the market. And yes, it is true that there are tons of discussions on the internet about the battle of laser versus optical. Some enthusiasts say that optics may be more accurate, but we haven't noticed any difference or way to measure it in exams.
Both the DeathAdder and the Savy use optical sensors, but in this sense we have not noticed them especially better compared to the others. Even so, the Razer gaming mouse has this optical sensor that we commented that scales up to 6.400 CPI, a considerable improvement with its previous model that reached up to 1.800.
Other models to consider
To have a good comparison of cheap (or affordable) gaming mice, we understand that each user is different, and although all of us who have tested the mice for this comparison have loved the Razor DeathAdder, we have made a classification of other models, so you can choose the gaming mouse that suits you best.
Although the Razor device was the gaming mouse that we liked the most, it does not mean that it stood out by far. In every situation we found an applicant who stood out. We have tested them and we have not experienced any particular problem, as a result each gaming mouse that you will see below has a certain tendency to stand out for a particular aspect.
Best mouse for little hands. Roccat Kone Pure
After several rounds of testing we have seen that this has the small body, perfect as a mouse for small hands. It fits the hand perfectly whether you have a full palm or claw grip.
The thumb buttons are perfectly situated having little click pressure (recommended). The distance between them seemed a bit far from the beginning but as we started to use it we saw that you could rest your thumb between them and press forward and back very quickly.
It therefore has characteristics that every gaming mouse should have, it is about maintain control while pressing quickly, thumb click and scroll the wheel. The Kone Pure does it perfectly, although unfortunately the grip is not the most suitable for those with big hands (if you are one of them we recommend the Razor).
The cheapest but with quality. Logitech G305
A mouse of something else of 30 euros For those who want to start with the world of gaming and want something more dedicated to it but without going to the most professional. The quality of the design has delighted us as it has 7 different colors depending on your configuration. And in case you get tired you can turn it off if you want. In our case we have left it open all the time.
We highlight its long cable length to handle it better. For the price you cannot expect the best on the market, but for what it does to design it has surprised us. It is quite accurate for what we have paid. Of course, in case you want to get something more serious on the subject of the mouse, for what they are worth, we would recommend you go for one of the other two mentioned, such as the Mianoix for example.
If you don't mind being so precise and you want cool colors, then for around 20 euros you can choose to buy the Pictek which, although it is the cheapest, in my humble opinion it is also the one that stands out the most for its colors.
More comfortable in palm grip. Mionix NAOS 8200
At the beginning of the article we had already said that we would talk about the grip. We discussed it slightly in our article on the best wireless mouse and we link it again here with an image.
With the Mionix NAOS 8200, a colleague who tried it spent several days using it because of the way he grasps the gaming mouse he has, with the palm of his hand (see the image above for reference). It's about a ergonomic model for those who use it with the right, and we rank it as a bronze medal after DeathAdder and Kone Pure. We consider the NAOS the most comfortable if you have a full palm grip as we said, but not if you “claw” to use it, something that the DeathAdder does better among other gaming mice.
Still the Mionix has to be given credit for testing those finger lumps on the sides, something that makes it less conventional and it works without a hitch. The shape it has is very comfortable to use it but not so effective to hold it while we lift the mouse. It also takes a while for the position of the little toe to adapt, but once you have achieved it (in a few days) it is perfect in comfort. The only problem we have seen with the grip is that it leaves the hand slightly loose, which could be problematic for players with low sensitivity who for example need to drag a lot in games like Counter Strike.
As for right and left clickThey are good but not the best. The pressure is medium as well as the distance, and for this reason it does not allow you to make bursts of clicks like the DeathAdder. On weight and feel we more feeling of lightness than with the others, something to give you points for. The material is extremely comfortable and maintains that Premium expensive feel even though it is one of the lightest we've tested.
Perfect situation of the buttons for the thumbs, making it possible to maintain a constant grip, and they have rubber areas to avoid slipping, in fact we would like to see this incorporation in each gaming mouse that we have tested. Still, we would have preferred the thumb button pressure to be less than it actually is, and less click distance as well.
Better ambidextrous and better left-handed. Mionix Avior 8200
Finally our last classified is the Mionix Avior 8200 for less than 100 euros. Although it is not made to be used with the right hand, it was the most comfortable gaming mouse, well, one of the most thanks to the fact that the manufacturer Mionix has used a very soft plastic coating. And unlike him SteelSeries Sensei (which we have tried and has not reached the end), we have had no problems pressing the right button on the sides while moving the mouse.
When it comes to ambidextrous mice, the Avior stands out from the rest. As we expect from the brand, the drivers are powerful and stylish, and the build quality is of first class, But what distinguishes it from the rest of gaming mice is the grip. As an ambidextrous mouse it has a perfect thumb button position, and the grip control was something that surprised us when comparing the other Avior models.
We've been able to use a hybrid, full palm, or claw grip, and still feel comfortable at all times resting our hand on the mouse. The thumb buttons are well placed on the left. The buttons on the right side usually drive us crazy on left-handed or ambidextrous mice, but the way this gaming mouse lets you put your little and middle finger means they can rest, as well as not interfering with each other.
I think an ambidextrous gaming mouse will never be as comfortable as a right-handed mouse but probably the Avior 8200 It is the closest to being the best ambidextrous gaming mouse. Grip is good but not as good as the DeathAdder, and the caster has slightly more resistance than we wanted.
Do you really need a gaming mouse?
Razer. Logitech. SteelSeries ... They all make the typical "gaming mouse" that supposedly makes you improve in the games that we have discussed.
