Our favorite 13-inch laptops

Lenovo Yoga Duet 7

A revolution in laptop design.

Back in 2017 we thought that the Lenovo Yoga was a bright, thin and light 13,9-inch computer, but this year the brand really put all the meat on the grill by launching its new version. The new Lenovo Yoga Duet It is a 13.9-inch laptop, but it has the presence of a small laptop 11 inches.

Fortunately for us, Yoga is beautiful but also very powerful. this laptop has the power to make work and play enjoyable and its battery lasts long enough to never let you down. Regardless of whether you decide to upgrade your laptop to a FullHD touchscreen version or prefer to go for the Full HD model, the Yoga It will provide you with great experience for years to come. The first i7 laptop this cheap.

13-inch Apple MacBook Pro with Retina display

The smallest and fastest MacBook is a force of nature.

Although on the outside the new 13-inch MacBook Pro retina has not changed, on the inside there have been great improvements, which is why it is considered one of the best laptop brand. The Pro Retina features the latest next-generation Apple M2 processor, which is more powerful than last year. That octa-core processor is also a huge improvement to average battery life compared to the MacBook Pro retina.

This new version of the MacBook Pro with Touch Bar has features like the Apple Force Touch Trackpad that uses different levels of sensitivity instead of mechanical buttons for clicking. Additionally, Apple's solid build quality, large screen, and good all-round performance make the new MacBook Pro with Retina display one of the safest bets when it comes to the current 13-inch laptop market.

ASUS ZenBook

A really great Ultrabook at a very affordable price. While the Zenbook doesn't break new ground in the Ultrabook landscape, it is a almost perfect laptop and at a very affordable price, so he really deserves all the praise he can get.

The Acer Swift is a superbly built laptop, an all metal machine, thin, light and very attractive. This lightness makes carrying out daily tasks such as browsing the Internet, watching videos or editing images easy and comfortable. Also, considering that its screen is 1080p, its battery life is excellent.

Of course, the most striking thing about ASUS is that it costs around 1000 euros, a great price for a laptop.. And in this case more because you get a Premium metal Ultrabook with an excellent Full HD screen, Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM and 512GB SSD. So while it is not the most innovative Ultrabook in the world, it is one of the best value for money and it will hardly disappoint you.

13-inch MacBook Air

Has the MacBook Air finally put the battery at our disposal for the whole day?. The thin notebook market is becoming more and more densely populated due to the wide variety of manufacturers, however, Apple retains its privileged place thanks to the MacBook Air.

This 13-inch laptop features state-of-the-art Apple technology, faster RAM and more up-to-date connection ports. compared to its predecessor, all of which results in a great user experience. Plus, the keyboard is great (and backlit), the Multi-Touch trackpad works great, and it's as fast as you want it to be.

Lenovo Yoga 7

This luxurious Lenovo laptop is an ultra-portable star.

Lenovo has updated its high-end laptop with a super sharp Full HD display. This 1920 x 1080 panel is ready for the day when hyper-HD content can be viewed reliably over the wireless Internet. In the meantime, the text looks perfect, as do the images - thus increasing the near-future feeling of this device.

The build quality of the Lenovo Yoga 7's screen with its Gorilla Glass frame is palpable. Just like its nimble keyboard with its fancy electroluminescent lighting. The Lenovo Yoga 7 laptop (starting at $ 1000) really feels like a built-for-now machine that you won't mind continuing to use until well into 2024 or beyond. In short, we love the Lenovo Yoga for its state-of-the-art build, the great typing experience it offers, and its premium features.

asus zen book

A Retina-level display, new Pentium Silver processor, and cutting-edge design. Are we facing the definitive Ultrabook? Samsung was one of the first computer manufacturers to jump on the Ultrabook bandwagon. Since then he has done a great job playing the role of Intel's colleague with some jaw-dropping launches, like the Asus ZenBook, a high-end laptop.

Asus' new Ultrabook, the ZenBookIt could keep the brand at the top for a while, at least as long as its skills on paper hold up. This 14-inch laptop is a very attractive unit. Slim and carefully crafted, with shiny beveled edges encasing an all-aluminum chassis. However, its boring silver exterior offers us some clues about its intentions: this is a Premium Ultrabook focused on both the businessman and the user who usually works with the laptop in cafes.

Acer Chromebook

Say hello to the longest-lasting Chromebook.

This Chromebook is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and packs a ton of features into a very small body.. Users will love its 13.3-inch screen and 1366 × 768 resolution, as well as its portability.. With its kilo and a half of weight, the Acer Chromebook it is a fairly light laptop.

This Chromebook has a few minor issues, such as not working too well in multitasking mode or the small variety of colors it is available in, just one. But Its price, its simplicity and its sure performance help you overcome those design limitations..

Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5

For around 600 euros, the Lenovo is a gorgeous and affordable laptop that doesn't have many weak points. It has more RAM and a 720p HD screen, which is a big step up from other models in its class, such as the Samsung Chromebook 2 and the Acer C720.

However, potential buyers should note that the

Chromebooks brings ChromeOS closer to lower prices than Windows PCs. So, if you are not buying the device specifically for the google ecosystem, you could be paying too much.

Having said that, the 720p resolution screen is a big plus and the Skullcandy portable speakers are great. Add it all up and the laptop could be a fantastic streaming system for any occasion, whether you want to use YouTube, Netflix or any other platform.

The Asus chromebooks are the most recommended in quality-price if you want small laptops as we say in the comparison.

How to choose your 13-inch laptop

13-inch MacBook Pro

When buying a 13-inch laptop you should be clear that you are facing a small screen size, so if you are going to use the computer to work in a physical place permanently, perhaps it is better that you look at a 15 inch laptop Or buy an external monitor to lean on.

With this clear, the advantages offered by a 13-inch laptop are many:

Processor

When we are going to buy a computer, one of the specifications that we have to look at is the processor. Depending on what we are going to do, we can opt for a somewhat more discreet or a more powerful one. The most popular are those of Intel, With the i3, i5 e i7 to the head. More recently they have released the i9, but this one is already for really demanding users. Probably, if we opt for a computer with an i3 processor, we will work on a computer that will work a bit fairly, not to use the expression "pedals". To work comfortably, it is worth buying a computer that has at least an i5.

On the other hand, there are also processors AMD. At first they are cheaper, but their Ryzen are at the same or higher height than the Intel. Although the Ryzen 3 is a little higher in performance than the i3, it is also worth buying a computer that starts with the Ryzen 5 if we want to work in conditions.

Weight :

If we opt for a computer with a somewhat smaller screen, it is, in part, because we want a lighter computer. When what we want is a computer that we are going to be moving several times a day and even carry it with us when we walk, weight is essential: we have to buy the lightest computer possible, as long as it reaches the minimum specifications that we are going to need to perform our jobs.

The best lightweight computers in the world are all below 1.5kg, but there are laptops on the market that are under 1kg, which is really little. Therefore, we could say that in order to speak of a lightweight portableThis has to have a weight of around 1.5kg.

But there is something important to keep in mind: there are users who have complained that an excessively low weight translates into instability when working with the computer on the knees. The laptop is moving, which is very uncomfortable if we have to spend hours writing and putting it in position every two to three. The lightest is not always the best.

RAM

RAM memory is something that we always have to take into account when we go to buy a computer. Operating systems are getting better and better, but they are also getting heavier. For this reason, more and more RAM memory is needed to allow us to move the operating system with ease. To be more faithful to the truth, what will allow us a good amount of RAM is to have a greater number of open processes, so here we could say that of "better than on not missing."

There are many laptops that are sold with 4GB of RAM, but we are talking about equipment with a little limited resources. To ensure that our computer will work well today and in the future, it is best to purchase a computer with at least 8GB whenever possible.

Touch screen

Un touchscreen laptop will allow us make use of extra options, among which we will have to use applications designed for touch screens or draw with a stylus. Most computers that include a touch screen use a Windows operating system that offers us the possibility of using the equipment with its interface for tablets. In addition, they include software that will allow us to draw on the screen, such as the company's Edge browser.

Pricing

The prices of the computers will depend on several factors, among which we have the internal components. As for laptops with a 13 ″ screen, we can find some with a starting price of just over € 200, but there are also some models of popular brands that are for a price 11 times higher, that is, above € 2200. It will depend on us and the use that we are going to make of the laptop, as well as our pocket, to choose one or the other.

Hardware

The 13 and 14-inch displays are widely spread, allowing for a amazing deal on 13 inch laptops to buy. We have very cheap models, others with good value price quality but we also have the high-end for those who need the maximum benefits in the minimum possible space.

What we do recommend, buy the 13-inch laptop model that you buy, is that it comes equipped with an SSD hard drive. For 600 euros there are already some models that incorporate it and the difference in performance level that you are going to have is brutal.

Is 14 inches the new 13 inches?

We could say yes. The 13 "notebooks were designed to be more portable than the 15.6" and include a larger screen than the 10-11 ". At the time, the margins and frames were much larger, but they have managed to reduce them to just over a centimeter.

Thanks to this reduction, manufacturers can include a display of 14 ″ in the same size and weight which previously included a 13 ″ screen. Larger screen is synonymous with greater efficiency and production, something that is especially interesting if we do not have to carry an extra weight with it. If you liked the idea of having more screen in the same space, you can take a look at these 14 inch laptops.

Measurements of a 13-inch laptop

It is a bit complicated to talk about general measures if we take into account the number of brands that exist in the market. One thing is clear and immovable: a 13 ″ screen will always measure 33.02cm diagonal.

Typically, the screen will be widescreen (16: 9), which is about 16.5cm high and just under 30cm wide. What is variable is the general size of the laptop. And it is that it depends on the brand to invest in R&D to be able to put everything necessary in a computer with smaller dimensions or in a little more space. A laptop from a good brand that has managed to compress the 13 ″ computer and its margins will have a closed size of about 35cm diagonally. The thickness, once again, will depend on the model chosen.

As data, since the 14 ″ is the new 13 ″ For reasons that we will explain in this article, a 14 ″ computer screen has a diagonal measurement of 35.56cm. The total size is approximately 38cm, depending on the margins of the notebook.

Best 13-inch laptop brands

13 inch laptop

It is difficult to make a ranking of the best 13-inch laptop brands since almost all have models of this screen size. Even so, we will make you a classification of what we consider the best companies:

  • HP: It offers a very competitive value for money that is hard to beat.
  • Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),: MacBooks are expensive, but their build quality is impeccable, their screen is very good and they usually have an enviable autonomy. Over the years, you realize that buying a MacBook was a good choice.
  • Lenovo: Lenovo laptops are being sold more and more and is that the firm has put the batteries, offering the odd 13-inch laptop with very good manufacturing quality and a very tight hardware for the price we pay.
  • Asus: I love the Zenbooks for their lightness and design but the truth is that their catalog of small laptops is very wide.
  • AcerAlthough a few years ago they left a lot to be desired, it is true that the latest laptops that have been launched on the market have a good compromise between quality and price. They are once again an option to consider.
  • XiaomiThe Chinese company is relatively young in this and other technology segments, but they are moving fast and steadily. Your Mi Laptop series includes advanced components that will ensure that we can use them for both personal and professional use. They are worth keeping in mind when considering the purchase of a new laptop.

13-inch or 15-inch laptop?

13 inch laptops

Every time we have to decide on something, we have to consider the use what are we going to make of it. Which is better for our use: a 13 ″ laptop or a 15 inch laptop?:

  • 13 inches- 13 ″ computers are designed to be more manageable and cost less to transport. If we usually work with our laptop at home and away from it, if we need to always carry it with us and move it around a lot, we are probably more interested in a 13 ″ computer.
  • 15 inches: 15 ″, or 15.6 ″ to be more exact, is the standard size on a laptop screen. On these computers we can work watching more content, which is always important and more if we need to divide the screen to carry out some work. The downside is that they are bigger and heavier, so they may not be the best option if we always have to carry it with us.

Another thing we have to keep in mind is that larger computers often include more advanced internals, so if what we are interested in is power, we have to look at this as well. And it is that the size is paid and in technology the smallest is usually more expensive; If we want a 13 ″ computer as powerful as its 15.6 ″ older brother, it is more than likely that we will have to make a larger outlay.

Where to buy a cheap 13-inch laptop

El Corte Inglés is famous for its chain of physical stores which are almost always in multi-story buildings, but we can also make purchases online. Although we can find practically anything, they are known for offering fashion items and electronics, and among the electronics products we will find 13-inch laptops from the most well-known brands. They are worth keeping in mind if we want to buy laptops of any size, including 13-inch ones.

  1. Good! I want to buy a laptop for college and I don't know which one. The use would be basically office automation, navigation, presentations (power point or similar programs), drive, mudle, gmail and little else. For all this I want to spend little because I am a student and with the little that I can work I earn just enough for my expenses, and a chromebook interests me a lot. What would you recommend me? I have a budget of around € 300, I liked the Toshiba but I am a bit off budget. Which do you think would meet? If it can be light better.
    Thank you very much

  2. I think it is a good choice to go for a Chromebook in your case Asier 🙂 Have you thought if you want a 13-inch then? 300 euros of budget is a bit fair but I think that if in this case you look at our section on small size laptops you will find things that will be around this price, even if the screen is approximately 11 inches. All the best

  3. Good morning, my doubt is that it is cheap for me to buy the Acer aspire v3 371-73 nn laptop, it only has a 240 gb ssd hard disk. Some problem if I put an external disk. How is this laptop, I can't find anything on the Internet about it
    Thanks for your time.

  4. There would be no problem with the external hard drive. It is true that 240 is not a little worse, being SSD the speed of access to the files is much faster. It is a laptop that I recommend Oscar 😉

  5. Hello, good afternoon!!!
I am interested in buying a 13-inch laptop, but I have many doubts.
The main reason for buying it is portability (I'm doing a master's degree and I want to take it with me to take advantage of situations such as free time from work, going to the library, etc ...), but that it has the longevity of a good laptop.
I am a user who makes laptops last me several years (around 7 years or more) because I am not very demanding (I basically work with word documents, pdf to study, read things and videos related to the profession. At the leisure level, I surf the internet, edit raw photos and watch some series and movies depending on the situation, little else).
Obviously a laptop that meets the 3 objectives (portability, performance and autonomy) implies a curious price.
Honestly, the macbook pro retina 13 attracts my attention. I have never had anything of my own from Apple and I want to have something from Apple to know the OS and have the experience, at least, of some product. I am skeptical of the way to cap the ram and ssd and that it affects me in the long term after an expensive investment. If I opt for the pro retina, it would be the basic one (8gb ram and 128gb ssd. I don't really care about space because I use external drives).
I do not want to make the mistake that it is a whim and if it is really worth it for a user like me to make this investment ...
I hope you understand my doubts and I would appreciate some advice on this topic !!!
Thank you very much, greetings !!!

  6. How are you Luis? Thank you very much for your comment. You see, I have tried many laptops for the web and for personal satisfaction, but guess what model I'm writing you from hehe I think this blog is not the place to start another of these "Apple VS world" discussions, however I am delighted with my Macbook pro retina 13 from 2015. I use it daily for several hours to work and I have never had any kind of problem, plus there is an extra factor, which is the "premium feeling" as I call it. Basically it seems that having a laptop like this I have the feeling that I do more work because I want to "take advantage" of my purchase, I don't know if it makes sense. Also, from what you say about watching series, the retina screen is amazing. Negative aspect? that the first 2-3 days bring a bit of frustration because you will spend these two days looking for how to make "shortcuts" to copy-paste and others, since it is done with the cmd and not with the control. Another negative thing is that after having a Mac and getting used to it, you will not want anything else 😉 Before this, I have had the typical Acer, Asus, etc. etc. They have also lasted me several years (not as many as you hehe), and they were 15 inches. I went over 13 inches and the truth is that I hardly noticed the difference, or maybe it was that I got used to it very quickly. I bought mine because of the offer that I link to you on the page, which was very good and the sea came quickly. I think you have it quite decided, and although for some it may seem whim, the truth is that it is worth it. But as I say, this is not the place for this type of discussion perhaps, because surely someone jumps out saying that it is not necessary to buy a Mac, and he would be right. It is not necessary, but if you can and want, I definitely recommend it.

  7. Hello good day!!
Thank you very much for your answer.
I think I'll definitely go for the macbook pro retina 13 (the basic one).
One more doubt, since I will take the most basic one, for a user like me is the basic i5 already more than enough or is there really a lot of difference with the next i5? The issue is that non-apple stores do not give you the option to choose (the problem is that they offer much more interesting financing than in the apple itself).
    Thanks greetings!!!

  8. Thanks Eduardo, that's the way it is now, we update to the CB30 version and we talk about it. Thanks for comment

  9. Good

I'm looking for a lightweight, 13-inch laptop that I can play with comfortably. I do not play shooters or simulation, driving or similar games. Basically I play strategy games although that is somewhat demanding in their calculations. The idea is to buy a laptop that you can take on a trip. I travel a lot for work and I already have a machine, capped of course, professional. My budget would be around € 1000, but if I found something more affordable quality-price ... well, better.

I would prefer windows system for compatibility with my games. I think of an i7, SsD and FHD disk. 8gb of Ram and if it had a dedicated graphic it would be great, but I don't know if the new integrated already have enough resources to be able to measure up with this type of games.

Thanks in advance for answering 🙂

  10. Hello Xesco, let's see if I can help you. Thanks for so much detail, it becomes easier to help you in this mode. You have to consider that the fact of adding, for example, SSD inflates the price a bit and the fact that it is 13 inches is quite specific since most laptops designed to play are usually 15 inches (we have here a gaming notebook review), but if you want to stretch a little as you were telling me, I have thought about Alienware 13 R2 but you would have to stretch € 150 more. Personally it is worth doing it because here in Spain it is almost € 1800, but if you look this link the last unit with a QWERTY keyboard remains. I think it is the only one that fulfills everything you say 🙂 If you see that you are not on time or you prefer to "sacrifice" some cheaper features, just tell me and we will look at it. And thanks for subscribing 😀

  11. Oysters Juan, thank you for your prompt reply!

Well, I was with my finger on the paypal button to get hold of it .... the truth is that the team is impressive (now there is an offer in dell that they change your hard drive for free for a ssd) .... but I'm gone to look at the weight and I was cold: 3,2kg !!! I can't afford it. I already travel with another laptop, and I cannot carry 7kg of weight only in hardware.

I'm going to have to keep looking. I was looking for something that was around 1,5kg even if I had to sacrifice something. I had seen the Lenovo Yoga… .but there is something that pulls me back! Both dual and touch… ..I would almost prefer something else in the Asus line (I have a 17 ″ gaming laptop at Asus' house and it is the bomb…. I am super happy with it).

I am also undecided with the subject of the graph. I usually play games such as EuropaUniversalis, Ageod, Matrix Games, Soccer Manager,… ..games that are not very demanding in the graphics (although something yes, the truth… .without becoming a Witcher) but in data management. Come on, I don't know if a next-generation integrated would measure up and save me money to invest in a processor (I have almost decided that it has to be an i7 ... unless you advise me otherwise), in a ssd and good ram (8gb). Anyway, you tell me!

    Thank you again!
